My Story
Rory Woods has been crafting stories since the age of eight, driven by an insatiable love for fantasy and the belief that stories have the power to change us. Inspired by Christopher Paolini’s The Inheritance Cycle, Rory grew up filling pages with poetry, short stories, and fanfiction—each tale a stepping stone toward the creation of More Than Me.
Born from a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, More Than Me began as a character exploration and evolved into something much deeper: a story about self-worth, destiny, and found family. Rory writes for those who have ever felt lost, who crave adventure but don’t know where to begin, and who need to be reminded that they are enough—just as they are.
Beyond the page, Rory is a lover of video games, D&D, reading, and yoga—a firm believer that a well-balanced life includes both epic quests and quiet moments. Their biggest writing influences include Christopher Paolini, Holly Black, and Tamora Pierce, authors who have shaped the way they see storytelling. If given the choice, Rory would gladly settle into the peaceful life of a Hobbit in Middle-earth, but for now, they’re content creating worlds of their own.
Writing isn’t always easy—especially when characters take on a life of their own and refuse to listen. As someone with ADHD and on the autism spectrum, Rory understands the struggle of putting words to paper but also the joy of seeing a world come to life through sheer determination. They write in quick bursts of inspiration, fueled by a well-curated fantasy playlist and a passion for stories that linger in the heart long after the last page is turned.
With More Than Me, Rory hopes to remind readers that your worth is not determined by others but by the choices you make and the courage to chase your own story.
